Slovenia – Snaps from the Low Down Adventure
Every RAH World Tour we include one WTF country – a country that prompts a WTF look, immediately followed by “why?” Latvia in 2011, Paraguay in 2012, Ukraine in 2013, and now Slovenia.
Slovenia is full of beautiful cities that are easy to navigate, totally walkable, and filled with a ton of amazing architecture. I fell hard for Ljubljana. I couldn’t resist the allure of the bustlin’ city center. Everything nestles up against the Ljubljanica river – cafes and restaurants with outdoor seating, galleries and museums, shops and tiny hidden spots. I love all the bridges (each reppin’ its own distinct style), the food, and especially the people.
A new friend Sebastian explained that Slovenians refer to their country as Slow-venia. Slovenia may be small in size, but it’s chock full of so much to see and do that the only way to do Slovenia is to do it slow. We didn’t have a chance to explore the coast town of Piran, or the alpine town of Bled. But it’s ok, ‘cause now we have plenty of reason to make a return trip happen! And we’re gonna do how the locals do and take Sebastian’s advice – Slow-venia style.
