Paper Awesomeness – The Badge for STMT X Colombia
I always come back from sourcing trips with paper randomness – invoice booklets, payment vouchers, gift certificates, claim tickets, and so much more. It’s the one purchase that’s guaranteed to confuse shop owners. They ask why. They tell me matter-of-factly that they can’t be used in the States. I explain that we can’t use ‘em for their intended purpose, but they still serve a purpose – dollin’ up STMT Kits!
Why do I always pick up paper randomness? Partly it’s the graphic designer in me obsessing about lo-fi design – YES! Type so bad it’s good. And partly the office-supplies junkie in me obsessing about functional design at work – OMG! So many different types of forms and paper. Surrounded by walls of forms, flipping through stacks, smelling the paper… my heart races. A high-so-high that’s a sure sign I’ve landed a job perfect for me.
STMT Kit badges reflect the source country and our trip. In the States I rarely find newsprint paper and when I do, it’s usually in the form of a ginormous drawing pad. How many people are buying these pads who aren’t artists taking a drawing class?
But not so in Colombia. Newsprint paper is really common, and I kept seein’ it everywhere. Two Colombia Kits down and both include newsprint notepads for a reason. Newsprint quickly became an obvious choice for the STMT X Colombia Kit badge and when I spied the invoice booklets – BOOM!
