Argentina – The Low Down Adventure
Buenos Aires is my kinda city. It’s big (like 2,891,000 big) yet somehow it maintains a small-city feel. It’s the neighborhood mom-and-pop shops, it’s strangers on the street making eye contact and smiling, it’s friends knocking on a window as they pass by so they can wave at the people inside.
Hunting for goods in Argentina reminds me of Mexico. Both cities have mom-and-pop office-supply shops in every neighborhood. They’re called papelarias in Mexico, librerías in Argentina. Walking block to block, checkin’ out each shop… the first thing I noticed is the crazy diverse selection of glue. I’m used to spying UHU or Elmer’s, and sometimes a local brand. But damn… this country is stuck on glue! Each brand and style’s packaging had me droolin’. Didn’t waste a second – secured my fave. Just wait till you peep the bottle! And how is this our 36th STMT Kit and we’ve never ever included glue??
Securing the glue was a big win – like bootyclappin and hi-fivin’ kinda win. The high started to wear off when I wondered if we’d end up with another South American BIC. No hatin’ on that. I mean I love me some BIC pens – there’s so many styles that we haven’t even included in an STMT Kit! But nope, not for this kit. We scored phat permanent markers that musta been fated to land in our hands. I mean – super glue AND super phat permanent pen?! This is RAH supersizing lo-fi goods! AND it’s not even bad for your belly. Yup, more bootyclappin.
So what’s next? The Paper Goods. How stoked are we that there’s no shortage of options!! Who knew that Argentina had so much to offer? Tempted by many, but we knew which one to go with as soon as we saw her… Eva Perón. Some people argue that every Argentine is touched by her spirit. Fate that we found her? Her magic? Is it a sign that we need to open an office in Buenos Aires?!
Another crazy thing about Argentina? It’s markin’ 3 nonstop whirlwind years of being on one big continuous hunt. And it’s not stopping anytime soon. Why? ‘Cause we hooked – stuck on lo-fi goods like glue.
