Embrace the Year of the Ox
Tteokguk. THE dish that Koreans devourer on New Year’s Day. It’s one of my fave things to eat, and lucky for me, I celebrate New Year’s Day twice a year. Why? The lunar calendar. Confusing to just about everyone I grew up with, but mos def one of the few immigrant perks during my youth. It also meant that I celebrated two birthdays and Thanksgivings a year!
The lunar calendar measures time by phases of the moon, from one new moon to the next. Lunar New Year is celebrated in Korea, Viet Nam, and other countries. This year Lunar New Year lands on February 12, and the year ends on January 31, 2022.
An animal characterizes each lunar year. And in 2021, it’s the Year of the Ox. A year of discipline and hard work. No distractions, no negative energy. My mantra to keep me focused this year – white light clarity. When you focus on what is in front of you and allow yourself to dig deep within, this space enables you to see what you need to know.
It’s also a year about relationships, personal and professional. Don’t serve BS, don’t take BS. Be present and work together.
